sweet birdies
I spent a lot of time observing a variety of birds flying around, waiting for their turn at the bird feeder. I attempted to catch them in flight, but they are turbo birds and I wasn't able to capture them in motion. I'm happy with the compostion and the blurred background, but not too crazy about the shallow tonal range, though the histogram is relatively well distributed.
Settings: 1/1600 shutter speed, f/7.1, ISO 1600.
Trevin W - Motion
For this shot I tried various shutter speeds from 1/2500 down to 1/10. 2500th was too fast and didn't capture the motion while 10th was a bit too slow and came out too blurry. I found that the shutter being at 1/40 captured great motion while still allowing me to get the main subject in focus.

FRIENDS by Larry

This was shot with a Canon 30D at f/16 for 1/500. This shutter speed produced the best image. I tried other shutter speeds, most of which resulted in either under or over exposed images. I like the colors, the sharpness and the textures. If I could do it again, I’d move to the left to get the blade of grass out of the frame and try shooting with different apertures.
Flying high
I used 1/8000 shutter speed to catch this fast moving plane at the park. ISO 1600. Tv setting. I like how the propellers are still and the background is a bit blurred. I panned with the plane. Fun to play with different settings.

Mr Opportunity by Larry
Margo J -- April Blossoms
I chose this because I like the effect of a canopy of blossoms, the curvature of the limbs, 1/3's, space between the branches/trunks. It was shot at F22; 1/80; ISO800; Focal length 90mm on my Olympus EPL Micro Four Thirds camera.
Shadows
F/S 8, Shutter speed 640, ISO 250, Focal length 38 mm.I saw this in passing and ran back to try and capture the feeling of the sun. I opened this in camera raw and played with the slidders a bit to give it a little more depth. The Histogram was fairly even to start out but lacking in highlights. After playing with camera raw, i managed to get it more evenly spread out.
"Recyclops"
I wanted to play with portrait photos today (way to procrastinate) and didn't have a live model, so I used "Recyclops" a Goddess my daughter created. She sat nicely. : ) I used F/5.6 and ISO 320. I changed both the aperture and the ISO many times and there was little effect on the histogram. The histogram showed more shadows than bright highlights, but spanned all 5 stops. I like the sharpness of the photo. I do not like the almost perfect diagonal cut across the frame.
Assignment #2
50mm ISO 500 F/5.6
Areas of overexposure (highlights on pig & paint tubes) were difficult to control. Having a little fun...

Trevin W. "Shoes"
I chose this particular photo because the histogram is pretty well balanced across the board. Looking at the histogram, I saw there was a good amount of light, colors, and shadows. I shot this using a larger aperture because I wanted the subjects to 'pop'.

Patty - Shadows
Settings, F/4.5, ISO 200, Focal length 55, Nikon D-90, tripod, location - my yard
My histogram was fairly low and even throughout. I chose F/4.5 for the close up but not too close and ISO 200 because it was a sunny day and the higher ISO washed out the pic. I liked the contrast of light and dark with a pop of green and was intrigued by the image. Next time I would use a UV filter and continue to work on capturing the image.

Stephanie-In The Garden
ISO 100 125 OEV f/4.0
histogram/exposure was pretty even-low levels- across 3/4 of the grid-highest and lowest ends did not have much, if any representation
I liked this picture because I was working in the yard with my nephew and we were talking about slugs and how his mom hates them. So we had to try out the camera! Special picture for my sister.
